ICE Awards Judging Weekend takes place in Far East
St, John's, NL - For the second year in a row, Target hosted some of Canada's top advertising talent for the ICE Awards Judging Weekend in St. John's.
It was a jam-packed few days filled with creativity, animated discussions and, above all, outstanding work.
"All of the judges loved this year's judging weekend," says Zak Mroueh, President & Creative Director of Zulu Alpha Kilo and this year's Head Judge. "Everything was well run and fair. There were definitely a few standout pieces that should do well nationally, or even internationally."
Before diving into the 280+ submissions of print, broadcast, radio, online, and design work from Canada's East Coast, the weekend began with a social at the historic Crow's Nest pub. A panel discussion, moderated by Dawn Chafe, editor of Atlantic Business Magazine, gave local marketing professionals a chance to judge the judges for themselves and pick up some creative insight along the way.
After a night of networking, the judges had their work cut out for them. Long hours, intense discussions, and lots of coffee assisted the process. In the end, decisions were made and the ICE winners will be announced at the awards gala in Halifax on October 22nd.
And, of course, like any great St. John's weekend, it all ended with a George Street party thanks to the powerful effects of Screech and a particularly moving interpretive dance routine.
The judging panel, led by Zak Mroueh, President & Creative Director of Zulu Alpha Kilo included:
Ian MacKellar, Creative Director, Bensimon Byrne, Toronto
Jane Murray, Associate Creative Director, Ogilvy, Toronto
Lance Martin, Creative Director, Taxi 2, Toronto
Sam Cerullo, Group Creative Director, Leo Burnett, Toronto
