St. John's vegetarian restaurant The Sprout has gone to pot through a direct mail piece from Target.
One hundred small packages containing a mini clay pot, some earth and a baggie of fresh herbs - oregano, basil or cilantro - was hand-delivered to residents and businesses last week.
The Sprout is the only vegetarian restaurant in the area, so the idea was to literally give locals a taste of what the eatery has to offer, said Jenny Smith, creative group head at Target Marketing and Communications.
"[It] reminds people that the food at the Sprout is made with fresh herbs and fresh ingredients, which is why it tastes so good," she said.
Growing instructions, information about the particular herb, and a list of the menu items in which it's used are included in the package.
The campaign also includes posters, which will appear next week.
