A hat trick win for Target and NL Tourism

St. John's, NL - This week in New York, Target and Newfoundland & Labrador Tourism received three wins at the 2008 international Adrian Awards celebrating creative brilliance and best practices in hospitality, travel, and tourism-related marketing.

In its fifth decade, The Adrian Awards, presented by the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI), has grown into the world's most renowned and prestigious advertising and web marketing competition, tailored specifically to the travel industry.

Target and Newfoundland & Labrador Tourism received a Gold award in the Brand Positioning category for its summer 2008 Fresh Air campaign, which included a 3-D superboard of an open window. The scenery through the window was hand-painted live by an artist suspended above the Gardiner Expressway in Toronto for 15 days, a testament to not only Newfoundland and Labrador's fresh air and beautiful environment, but its creativity and culture too. The campaign also included sponsored smog alerts on radio stations ("today's air quality advisory is brought to you by Newfoundland and Labrador - where there is no need for smog reports") and online ads on The Weather Network of a clothesline blowing fresh air and website text across the page.

A second win (Silver) was awarded in the Web Marketing category for Newfoundland & Labrador Tourism's online interactive ads promoting hunting and fishing in the province, and a third (Bronze) awarded in the Signage-Outdoor/Transit category for the hand-painted superboard in Toronto.

This is Target's fourth year of success at the Adrian Awards. Last year the agency and Newfoundland & Labrador Tourism took home Silver and Bronze wins.
